About Task Creative:
Task Creative is a space for artists who need short-term studio space.
In today’s economy, everything is expensive, especially rent, but space is essential for an artist’s practice to grow and be seen. Furthermore, most studio spaces are also only rentable on a long-term basis. Task Creative was conceived primarily as a way for performance, multimedia, and installation artists to rent a space to experiment and install their work, without having to sign a year-long lease.
Task Creative has a 700-square-foot room available to rent for as short as a single day. Task also offers a library of equipment including TVs, media players, and projectors as well as a screen printing setup that artists can use on-site for small runs of t-shirts or printed pieces. Professional services such as graphic design for print or digital applications, web development or consultation, brand development, logo design, and one-on-one instruction of Adobe Creative Suite are also available.
About The Event:
Task Creative is excited to announce its grand opening. On September 30, 2022, Task will open its doors to the public and is inviting all who are interested to stop by and learn more about this new multi-purpose arts space. A pop-up exhibition of work from regional artists will be shown in the studio space and performance artists will present their work throughout the evening. Artists include Siara Berry (Milwaukee, WI), J Myszka Lewis (Madison, WI), Sara Sowell (Milwaukee, WI), Nathan Wegner (Stevens Point, WI), and Mouad El Bissaoui (Morocco).
About Amy Cannestra:
Amy Cannestra is a contemporary artist who uses performance, multi-media installation and drawing to explore the weight physical and mental trauma puts on the body and soul. Since then she has performed and exhibited internationally, participating in events such as the 2016 TransArt Triennial in Germany, ChaShaMa pop-up at the One World Trade Center in New York City, the 2017 TRIO: Biennial in Rio de Janeiro, and, most notably, the 58th Venice Biennial in the Grenada Pavilion. Alongside her studio practice, she is also one-third of SPOOKY BOOBS, a feminist art collaboration with artists J Myszka Lewis, and Maggie Snyder. She is a freelance designer, an adjunct professor at Concordia University, an aunt, and a dog mom.
